About the San Diego Chinese New Year Fair
Year of the Snake
In Chinese mythology the early creators of mankind – often referred to as Fu Xi (伏羲) and Nv Wa (女娲) where divine creators and looked like a hybrid of human and snake. The creators had the head being human, the body the one of a snake. For this reason, the ancient Chinese worshiped the snake totem.
In Chinese culture, the snake is referred to as the “little dragon” – the Chinese zodiac sign being associated with attributes such as intuition, introspection and refinement. People born in the year of the Snake are often considered charming, graceful and can keep a cool in situations of crisis.
They often give the outward appearance of not seeming emotional, and they are known to be secretive as they do not easily share their inner thoughts with others.
Event History
The San Diego Chinese New Year Fair hosted by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association has been a staple event in the community since 1983. Our event has grown year after year and we are proud to have become one of the biggest and most popular celebrations in San Diego.
At Chinese New Year Fair San Diego, we strive to provide a unique and unforgettable experience for all attendees. Our mission is to bring together like-minded individuals to celebrate and enjoy the best of what our event has to offer.
